Calvert "Cal" Knudsen
(1924-2009)
 Cal Knudsen was another early Oregon wine pioneer. Professionally he was a lawyer, Weyerhauser executive, and president of Canadian timber giant MacMillan Bloedel.
His contribution to the Oregon wine industry was equally as impressive. In 1971 he established the 120+ acre “Knudsen Vineyard”, in the Dundee Hills, which continues to be operated by the Knudsen family. From 1975-1988 he and Dick Erath created the Knudsen-Erath winery.
In 1988 he purchased an ownership interest in Argyle Winery, then a young sparkling wine startup, and now nationally recognized. Cal Knudsen passed away in 2009.
